NBBA Viking Cues 9 Ball Tour Stop #3 Results

On Saturday, October 1st, the New Brunswick Billiards Association (NBBA) Viking Tour traveled to the Northern NB city of Campbellton for Tour stop #3. The event was hosted by the husband – wife partnership team of Bob & Ann Poitras at their Dooly’s location. Their hospitality & the work they had done on all their tables before the event was greatly appreciated by all 35 participants.

The winner of the first two Viking Tour stops Tom Theriault, Edmundston, reached the final in impressive fashion with wins over David McInnis, Pokemouche, 7-1, Greg Gauthier, Miramichi, 7-1, Stephan Doiron, Riverview, 7-1, Kyle Richard, Oromocto, 7-0 and Chris Dempsey, Moncton, 7-4.

Serge Therrien, Riviere-Verte, after dropping his opening round match 7-6 to Gauthier, battled through the one-loss side to also reach the final and try to dethrone Theriault. Therrien had wins over McInnis, 7-2, Victor Roy, Bathurst, 7-4, Derek Peterson, Fredericton, 7-3, Doiron in a double hill nail biter, Brian Forster, Campbellton, 7-4, Richard 7-3, and Dempsey 7-3.

Therrien started the final very strong opening up a 5-1 lead. The youthful veteran Theriault closed the gap to 6-4, but the determined Therrien could not be denied on this day, winning the last 3 racks, resulting in the final score line of 9-4.

Therrien collected $515.00, of the $1,865 total prize pool.
