Your Cue

“If you don't love it enough to sleep with it, then it ain't the cue for you.”

-Dennis Deickman

Your cue is an extension of your stroking arm, and excellent performance depends on good equipment, in top shape. Here's a few tips:

Keep the shaft clean by wiping it down with a damp cloth or paper towel and rubbing it dry with a soft cotton cloth. Shape the tip to the curvature of a nickel or dime, and regularly rough it up so it will take chalk well and prevent miscues.

Keep the ferrule of your cue still clean and white. A clean ferrule outlines the shape of the tip and helps with aiming and sighting.

Never slam the butt of your cue stick on the floor out of anger or frustration, and never break hard with your playing cue as it flattens the tip, and can bend the shaft or damage the joints.

Cues are made of wood and prone to warping, so avoid leaning it against walls for long periods of time. Keep it in a good case whenever it's not in use.

Most importantly, do not expose it to extreme hot or cold temperatures. Especially, don't leave it in the trunk or interior of your car when it's baking or freezing outside!
