West African Ebony (also known as Gabon Ebony from West Africa) has been a standard some for custom cues in Europe and America, and for many cue builders it is preferred because it is more stable than other ebonies. WE ARE GEEKY when it comes to using the best, most beautiful woods in our Viking cues. For diospyros crassiflora, its technical name, we only use 1st grade West African Ebony, because we know that these cues aren’t just pool cues, they are functional works of art and in certain cases, family heirlooms.
