PERSPECTIVE

“…the worst thing that could happen is I’ll be home fishing tomorrow.”

-Goose Gossage

THERE ARE DAYS when nothing goes right. You can’t make a ball, and couldn’t buy a good roll with a hundred dollar bill. This is a good time to put the game of pool in perspective.

Give some thought to what is truly important. Cherish the good things in life: your family, friends, good health and the wonderful natural world around you.

Playing pool at a high level of competition (even at the professional level) pales in comparison to matters of the heart. No matter how badly you play today, tomorrow always offers a new beginning.

The next time you are in a mental rut and feeling sorry for yourself, give thanks for the goodness in your life. Stop the negative chatter, take a deep breath, and be grateful.

Playing pool is entertaining and offers many rewarding experiences. Enjoy the thrill of winning a big match, but know that a heartbreaking loss could be right around the corner. That’s the nature of the beast!

So play hard, give it your best and keep it in perspective. It’s a great game, with lots of highs and lows, but at the end of the day it’s just a game.

See the big picture and cherish the good stuff.
