REPETITION

“Repetition is the mother of all learning.” -Old Proverb.

To master pool you need to acquire a great stroke, an aiming system that’s reliable, and the ability to pocket balls with cue ball control. So how do we get these skills? Hmm… enter repetition.

Practice a shot long enough, and you’ll know the chances of making it. Practice the right shot long enough and you’ll own it. When it shows up in competition, you’ll fire it in with confidence!

You’ll create a set of muscle movements that are associated with it. It’s not exactly muscle memory, but your body knows how it feels. The more you practice it, the better you feel it.

Identify the shots you often miss, and work on them until you can consistently make them. If you’re falling short, get help.

Repetition burns specific neurological pathways from the brain to the muscles with instructions on how to execute. When a particular shot shows up, your brain energizes the appropriate pathway and sends all the right information to the right place at about 268 miles per second!

There’s no way around it, you’ve got to hit a zillion balls to get good. Repetition, more repetition, and a little more repetition. Over and over!

Repetition isn’t exciting, but it’s coached a lot of champions.
