LESSONS

“If a player wants to improve, he or she has to take lessons.” -Jean Balukas

If you want to be on the fast track, then a good coach is essential. Most top players in all sports have coaches!

Practically everyone reaches a point where they hit a wall and can’t progress. It could be faulty stroke mechanics, an errant aiming technique, or simply a lack of knowledge. Fix these problems and you create an opportunity to jump to a higher level of play!

A good coach can help you get there quicker. They can spot problems in your stroke just by watching you hit a few balls. Some instructors will video the lesson—and for the record—the camera never lies.

If you can spend time with a great player, do it. Most top professionals give lessons, but an experienced local player can also serve as a terrific mentor. The main thing is to find an excellent player who is knowledgeable and also has good communication skills.

A mentor who takes the role seriously will quickly get to know your strengths and weaknesses. When you get into a slump, he or she can help pull you out of it.

Be aware that you will falter from time to time. That’s the nature of the game. That’s also when a good coach can make all the difference!

Shorten the learning curve. Find a coach. Take some lessons!
